What is DBT?

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a therapy designed to help people manage intense emotions and navigate challenging experiences. It blends cognitive-behavioural strategies with mindfulness and acceptance techniques to teach practical skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness.

DBT focuses on balancing acceptance and change, helping you acknowledge and accept your emotions while also learning ways to respond differently. Through DBT, you’ll build coping skills, increase self-awareness, improve relationships, and develop healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and interacting. This approach can support overall well-being and help you lead a more fulfilling life.
